PItbull - Word Mosaic Art Print

Word Mosaic Art Print by Curtis Epperson

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ARTWORK

There is more than one story written into this face.

Few dogs come with as many assumptions attached to them as the Pitbull.

Curtis’s word list does not flatten that story into something simple.

Powerful. Protective. Fierce. Strong Bite And Jaws.

Need Proper Training. Need Socialization.

But keep reading.

Affectionate. Best Friend. Bond Easily. Family. Gentle. Joy. Loving. Playful. Puppyish.

Curtis built this portrait from 84 different words and phrases and spent 16 hours drawing them into the dog itself.

The result holds strength and affection in the same face.

From across the room, you see the Pitbull.

Up close, the labels give way to a much longer story.

INSIDE THE ARTWORK

I did not want this word list to pretend the breed was simple.

Detail of the original hand-drawn lettering in Pitbull

Lettering detail from Pitbull.

The Pitbull gave me words that pull in different directions.

Powerful. Protective. Fierce. Strong Bite And Jaws.

Need Proper Training. Need Socialization.

Then there were Affectionate, Best Friend, Bond Easily, Family, Gentle, Joy, Loving, Playful and Puppyish.

I used 84 different words and phrases and spent 16 hours drawing them into the finished portrait.

I like that the closer look does not reduce the dog to one idea.

There is strength in the list.

There is affection too.
