Curtis used 72 different words and phrases to create this Bichon, spending 14 hours drawing and fitting the lettering together until the words became that bright little face and unmistakable white coat.

At first, you see the dog.

This one has a lot of personality hiding in the curls.

When I put together the words for the Bichon Frise, I ended up with a list that felt almost as cheerful as the dog.

Charming. Merry. Playful. Loves Attention. Happy Go Lucky.

Then there are phrases like Lovers Not Fighters and Were Circus Performers that give you something completely different to discover.

I used 72 different words and phrases and spent 14 hours turning all of that lettering into the finished Bichon.

That is what I enjoy about these pieces. You can like the portrait from across the room without knowing anything else about it.

Then you walk closer and suddenly there is another whole layer waiting inside.
