Dragonfly - Word Mosaic Art Print

Word Mosaic Art Print by Curtis Epperson

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ARTWORK

It looks delicate until you read what this little thing can do.

A Dragonfly can look almost too fragile to touch.

Then Curtis’s words begin telling a very different story.

Almost 360° Vision.

Can Fly In Any Direction.

Can Fly Thousands Of Miles Without Landing.

Born Underwater.

Eat Mosquitoes.

And among all those remarkable facts are words with a different kind of meaning:

Rebirth. Strength. Courage. Happiness. Transformation.

Curtis spent 12 hours drawing 57 different words and phrases into this Dragonfly.

From across the room, you see delicate wings.

Up close, you find an unexpectedly formidable little creature written inside them.

INSIDE THE ARTWORK

This one became much less delicate the more I learned about it.

Detail of the original hand-drawn lettering in Dragonfly

Lettering detail from Dragonfly.

I like subjects that surprise me while I am researching them.

The Dragonfly did that.

Almost 360° Vision. Can Fly In Any Direction. Can Fly Thousands Of Miles Without Landing. Born Underwater.

Then I had Beauty, Elegant, Graceful Movement and Transparent Wings alongside Rebirth, Strength, Courage, Happiness and Transformation.

I used 57 different words and phrases and spent 12 hours drawing them into the finished Dragonfly.

The finished image may look delicate.

The words tell you there is quite a bit more going on.
