The Silverback Gorilla - Word Mosaic Art Print

Word Mosaic Art Print by Curtis Epperson

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ARTWORK

Power gets your attention. The quieter words are what stay with you.

A Silverback Gorilla can fill a picture with strength without doing anything at all.

Curtis’s word list begins there.

Mighty. Powerful. Strong. Unshakable. Leader.

Then something more interesting happens.

Bond.

Communicates Through Gestures.

Lives In Family Groups.

Protective. Loyal. Peaceful. Observant. Wise.

Curtis spent 17 hours drawing 82 different words and phrases into this Silverback Gorilla.

There are remarkable everyday details hidden inside too:

Builds Leaf Nest Daily.

Gentle Unless Threatened.

From across the room, you see the power.

Up close, you begin to understand what it is protecting.

INSIDE THE ARTWORK

The family words changed this portrait for me.

Detail of the original hand-drawn lettering in The Silverback Gorilla

Lettering detail from Silverback Gorilla.

The Silverback Gorilla gave me the strong words you would expect.

Mighty. Powerful. Strong. Unshakable. Leader.

But I kept coming back to Bond, Loyal, Protective, Peaceful and Lives In Family Groups.

There were also details like Communicates Through Gestures and Builds Leaf Nest Daily.

I used 82 different words and phrases and spent 17 hours drawing them into the finished Gorilla.

The strength is obvious from a distance.

The closer look gave me a much fuller picture of the animal.
