Lykoi Cat - Word Mosaic Art Print

Word Mosaic Art Print by Curtis Epperson

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ARTWORK

Some cats look mysterious. This one came with a legend built in.

The Lykoi has the kind of face that makes you look twice.

Lean. Curious. Unusual. A little wild around the edges.

And then you discover the words Curtis used to build it.

Name Means Wolf In Greek.

Werewolf Cats.

Partially Hairless.

Wild At Heart.

But tucked into the same portrait are Affectionate, Cuddle, Family, Friendly, Love, Loving, Loyal and Sweet Natured.

Curtis spent 13 hours drawing 66 different words and phrases into this Lykoi Cat.

From across the room, the mystery gets you.

Up close, the werewolf turns out to have a very soft heart.

INSIDE THE ARTWORK

The words made this cat much more lovable than mysterious to me.

Detail of the original hand-drawn lettering in Lykoi Cat

Lettering detail from Lykoi Cat.

The Lykoi gave me a word list with one of my favorite contrasts.

Name Means Wolf In Greek. Werewolf Cats. Wild At Heart. Stealthy. Rare.

Then right beside those were Affectionate, Cuddle, Family, Friendly, Love, Loving, Loyal and Sweet Natured.

I used 66 different words and phrases and spent 13 hours drawing them into the finished Lykoi.

That is one of the things I like most about building a portrait this way.

The first look gives you an impression.

The words get to complicate it.
